Vagaries of Voting

When President Franklin D Roosevelt was running for a third term, he asked a friend, whom he knew to be a Republican, how he was going to vote.  The friend replied: "I know you're a Democrat, but I'm voting Republican."  "Why?" asked the president.  And the reply: "When you first ran, I voted Republican.  And when you ran for a second term, I voted Republican again.  Well, I've never had it so good.  So I'm going to vote Republican again this time."
